We offer treatment to patients who are medically insured or those who are self-paying

Will my Medical Insurance cover my Treatment?

In most cases, private medical insurance will cover your varicose vein assessment and treatment, particularly if your veins cause you symptoms or if you have developed complications from your veins. Not all insurers will cover treatment for purely cosmetic reasons and few will cover thread vein treatment.

Most insurance companies require a GP referral letter.

Depending on your insurer or the policy you hold, they may ask you some screening questions to decide if they will fund a Consultation and assessment.

Once you have been assessed and a treatment plan has been agreed, you will need to seek authorisation from your insurers to cover the treatment. Sometimes your insurers will request further information from ourselves prior to agreeing to cover treatment.

Please be aware that some policies carry an excess that will need to be paid to our clinic prior to treatment.

Which Medical Insurance companies do we work with?

We work with all the major insurance companies including:

  • BUPA

  • AXA

  • AVIVA

  • Vitality

  • Simply Health

  • Benenden

If your insurance company is not listed, give us a call to discuss as we can usually arrange treatment.

  • Allianz

  • Health Now

  • Health Online

  • Police Health Scheme

  • WPA

Prices for medically insured patients are charged in line with the individual company’s Schedule of Procedures.

Self Pay Prices

If you are self funding we are more than happy to arrange a Consultation to assess your varicose veins or thread veins, or simply if you want the reassurance of a consultation and vein scan to exclude venous disease as a reason for your leg symptoms.

Self funding patients are able to book directly with us and do not need a formal referral from your General Practitioner. Unless you advise us otherwise, we will share the results of your consultation and treatment with your GP.

Thread / Spider Veins

  • At your initial assessment you will undergo a consultation, diagnostic duplex ultrasound scan to ensure that there are no underlying varicose veins or deeper feeder veins that require treatment. A full report is provided to you and your family doctor. A tailored treatment plan will be discussed with you at this stage and no further follow up clinic fees are usually payable.

This assessment is valid for 12-months, if treatment is scheduled after this time a follow up fee of £100 (inclusive of a repeat scan) is payable to ensure there have been no material changes to your condition.

  • The gold standard treatment for thread or spider veins is microsclerotherapy.

A 30-minute sclerotherapy session, which can focus on one leg or be divided between both legs.

Price is inclusive of post operative stocking and further clinic review if required.

More than 1x session may be required

  • A 30 minute session of foam sclerotherapy to target deeper venous problems or larger veins. Depending on the amount of work to be undertaken can be sometimes combined with microsclerotherapy of thread veins.

Price is inclusive of post operative stocking and further clinic review if required.

More than 1x session may be required.

Varicose Veins

  • At your initial assessment you will undergo a consultation, diagnostic duplex ultrasound scan to identify the deeper veins responsible for the varicose veins.

  • This may be appropriate for small varicose veins.

A 30 minute session of foam sclerotherapy to target deeper venous problems or larger veins. Depending on the amount of work to be undertaken can be sometimes combined with microsclerotherapy of thread veins.

More than 1x session may be required.

  • The most common treatment for varicose veins we offer is radio frequency ablation of the deeper seated feeder veins

This price is inclusive of any treatment of the varicose veins themselves via a combination of microphlebectomy (removal through small incisions) and /or foam sclerotherapy (injections).

All your leg varicose veins therefore are dealt with at the same sitting - this is important when comparing different clinics as some will only perform laser or radio frequency ablation and not remove the varicose veins, or they may use foam sclerotherapy only to deal with the varicose veins which in our opinion leads to a less than satisfactory cosmetic result.

Price includes follow up, follow up scans and covers the management of any complications should they occur - no further fee is payable.

Occasionally varicose veins are so extensive on both legs that full clearance is not possible in 1x session and a further session of treatment may be required at additional cost - you will be advised of this in your Consultation.
